Worship
When I say the word worship what comes to mind? If you are like most people it is a room full of people standing in rows of chairs or pews. The room is probably dark or at least the lights are dim. Chances are there is some sort of band on the stage and everyone is singing songs. Am I right?
Chances are this is what you think about because this is how most of us practice worship on a consistent basis. This isn’t a bad thing. Worshiping with other members of the body of Christ is something we should be doing on a regular basis. However, if this is the only time you are worshiping it is likely your view of worship needs to change.
Worship isn’t meant to be something we just do on a Sunday morning. It is supposed to be how we live our lives. As Christians we should be worshiping God in everything we do. One of the best ways I know to do this is to look at the world around you and see where God’s majesty is shown.
Let me take you through this in the environment I am sitting in currently. I am in a coffee shop typing on my computer while listening to Rend Collective. That seems pretty ordinary right? It can be but why don’t we look at just one thing on the table in front of me, my coffee.
I am drinking an espresso-based drink Which while using coffee beans varies from normal coffee based on roasting and preparation methods. Depending on where the beans come from they will have a different taste profile than if they came from somewhere else. God could have just allowed us to have. The fact that God in his infinite wisdom gave us such a thing as the coffee bean and then allowed for so much variety in it is absolutely dumbfounding and in my opinion awe inspiring.
Maybe you don’t like coffee. In which case let's look out the window. It is a nice sunny day. It is on the warmer side of things somewhere in the low 80’s a perfect day to go outside and take a walk. Being outside in the sun can alter someone's mood greatly. If you don’t believe me, think about how it feels when its been overcast for a few days and then suddenly the sun comes out. Instantly everyone seems to be in a better mood. You aren’t imagining it that is how God created us to operate. Our God created us so that all we have to do to get a serotonin boost is walk out into the sunlight. If that isn’t worth worship, I don’t know what is.
I could do this all day. We could worship God for the mental and physical abilities he has given mankind. He has given us the ability to advance technology far beyond what many thought possible just 100 years ago. He created a universe full of beauty whether it’s beautiful landscapes or awe-inspiring galaxy formations.
So, my challenge to you is don’t just walk through life without looking around you. Look at what is around you and find a reason to worship God.
